⁴¹ Saul then said to the Lord, the God of Israel, “Give me the complete truth.” Jonathan and Saul were chosen by lot, but the people escaped. ⁴² Saul said, “Cast lots to choose between me and Jonathan, my son.” Jonathan’s lot was chosen.

⁴³ Saul said to Jonathan, “Tell me what you have done.” Jonathan told him, “I only tasted a little honey with the end of my staff that was in my hand. Must I now die?”
